Cow Clones (Lecture summary from Dr. Chiu)
Cyagra, Inc., where cloning and genetic technologies become reality. Cyagra, a premier livestock cloning company, is assisting breeders, owners, and A.I. companies to increase the profits and excitement that great individuals create. Cyagra’s cloning and genetic preservation technology is backed by over 160 U.S. and International patent applications and a team of acclaimed cloning scientists. Cyagra’s R & D commitment is focused on improving the present day applications of cloning and genetic preservation along with the development of future assisted cloning technologies. Cyagra has produced hundreds of cloned calves to date ... what does this mean for you as a reader?
1. Cyagra and companies like these are real! The science is real! This is highlighted as genetic preservation -why would you want to preserve unless you need it to mass produce?
2. Food safety: the way we once imagined has changed considerably!!
3. There isn't anyone studying this from a devil's advocate standpoint. The only people who are complaining are those who 'fear' something will go wrong. We really need to have a team of holistic based scientists and humanitarians evaluate the full ramifications of this approach to providing food.
4. Take a photocopy of any picture (this is your original). Now take a photocopy of the original (this is copy #1). Take a copy of copy #1 (this is copy #2). Take a copy of copy #2 (this is copy #3). Take a copy of copy #3 (this is copy #4).
5. Now compare copy #1 and copy #4. Observe carefully and notice the differences (this is the copy machine assimilating the differences).
6. The argument would be Cyagra (http://www.cyagra.com/) is only making 1 copy. Will this change as we run out of supplies? And is there some unforeseeable difference that will ulimately lead to a downfall of humanity similar to the global financial crisis of the 21st century (2008-2010) ?
7. As technology is needed to solve food shortages and rapidly diminishing supplies of cattle due to infectious disease and outbreaks, immediate action is need to solve these problems. Readers should consider if this is the best long term approach: http://www.cyagra.com/whyclone.htm
8. FDA & USDA have approved the use of cloning but not as a direct food source. Why?
